A country name is a beginning. A municipality, parish, event and approximate year give you a record to look for.

01Identify the town and province
02Choose civil or church records
03Check coverage and access
Before you open another search
Write down the name as found, alternate spellings, event, approximate year, municipality, province, religion if known, and the source for each detail. If the place is missing, revisit family papers and migration records before choosing a parish.
The Philippines Civil Registration (National) collection contains records from selected localities. Its current heading says 1945–1996, while embedded help text gives 1945–1987 and a browse label gives 1945–1984. None establishes complete coverage for your town.
How to use it
Open the collection, search the person and event, then use Browse All Images to inspect locality and year choices. Sign in with a free account when prompted. Read the original image when accessible and save the collection, locality, volume, page or image reference.
Limits and costs to confirm
A missing search result is not evidence that the event did not occur. Some indexing is computer aided. Image access can differ from index access; follow the restriction message for that item.
The collection is titled Philippines, Catholic Church Records, 1520–2014, covering baptisms, marriages and deaths from multiple parishes. Its reading help includes Latin and Spanish. Treat the broad title as a discovery route, not a promise of records for every parish or year.
How to use it
Open the collection and its coverage notes. Search the FamilySearch Catalog by the relevant place as well. Confirm parish, event type and dates before browsing. If records are absent, ask the parish or diocesan archive who holds the registers for that period.
Limits and costs to confirm
Do not assume that a civil municipality and a parish cover the same territory. A catalog description is not confirmation of unrestricted images or permission to download.
The official Reference Service Unit FAQ lists civil, Spanish-period baptismal, notarial and other archival records. Its broad endpoint dates do not guarantee a surviving record for each locality.
How to use it
Use the FAQ and Request Documents route to choose the record type. Provide the person, event, place and narrow date range. Ask for a holdings check, reference number, copying options and current fee before committing. The FAQ also provides reference@nationalarchives.gov.ph.
Limits and costs to confirm
This is a request route, not a searchable image collection. The FAQ was inspected in a browser; a request and payment were not tested. Ask staff to confirm local coverage.
The reservation page describes access to Spanish collections from the sixteenth through nineteenth centuries and Japanese War Crimes records, 1937–1950.
How to use it
Use Register or Login on the official reservation page and request a schedule. The page requires booking at least three days ahead and a signed request letter for personal research (or an institutional recommendation letter). It currently says Monday–Thursday visits only, with limited capacity and no walk-ins. Wait for confirmation before travel. Check the published researcher fees and copying arrangements.
Limits and costs to confirm
A reading-room appointment and a certified-copy request are different services. The reservation form was not submitted; eligibility, item availability and copying charges need staff confirmation.
The Philippine Statistics Authority identifies PSA Serbilis as an authorized channel for civil-registry certificates, including requests from abroad. It is a certificate-ordering service, not an open genealogy database.
How to use it
Follow the official PSA advisory to the service. Check requester eligibility, identity and authorization requirements, destination options and the final charge before ordering. If a certificate cannot be located, ask the relevant Local Civil Registrar about its own records and the next appropriate step.
Limits and costs to confirm
PSA confirms the channel; this review did not complete a checkout. The service page timed out during our browser check. Current charges and delivery times were not independently tested. Use the official advisory to confirm the route if the service is unavailable.

FACEBOOK PAGE
Philippine Genealogical Society
A society page devoted to Filipino family history, cross-linked by WorldGenWeb. The page identity and public family-history material were visible during this check.
Practical access: Use the page search for a surname or locality, then check About for the society’s contact route. This is a page, not a discussion group. Response times and research services were not tested.
WorldGenWeb’s Philippines directory links to this group under its older Asia, Africa & Pacific name. The current Facebook name is Asia Genealogy Research Community. Its public description welcomes questions and collaboration about Asian research; it is broader than the Philippines.
Practical access: A Facebook account and admission are needed to read private posts. Read the rules before requesting membership. Once admitted, search for the municipality, province and surname before asking a focused question. Only the public About page was inspected; private posts and files were not reviewed.
The Filipino American National Historical Society describes files arranged by people, organizations and themes. Materials include photographs, clippings, publications and transcribed oral histories. This is especially relevant to a family’s life in the United States.
Practical access: Use the archives description and national contact page to ask about a person, organization, city and period. Confirm an appointment, remote copying, fees and reuse conditions before travel or ordering. The collection is in Seattle; the website is not a complete online image catalog.
Turn a lead into evidence: Ask who created an item, where the original is held and how it can be cited. Keep private-group material private unless its owner permits reuse. A family tree, recollection or photograph caption needs checking against other evidence.
FOLLOWING FILIPINO FAMILIES IN THE UNITED STATES
Daly City: follow the family into its later community
Local collections can help connect a family with a neighborhood, institution or community activity. These two repositories are verified; specific Filipino family-record holdings still need staff confirmation.
Serramonte Main Library
The library identifies a Filipiniana collection and local-history materials. Its collection policy distinguishes a separate, non-circulating local Daly City and California history collection.
Practical access: Search the library catalog and contact library@dalycity.org with the person, organization, neighborhood and dates. Ask which materials are onsite only, whether remote inquiries are possible, and whether a library card is needed for the service you want. Confirm hours before travel.
Not yet confirmed: Dedicated Filipino newspapers, oral histories, directories or organizational records. The published collection description does not establish those particular holdings.
The all-volunteer museum preserves local photographs, artifacts and documents and welcomes arranged access to its archives. It is a general local-history research route; a dedicated Filipino collection has not been confirmed.
Practical access: Contact info@dalycityhistorymuseum.org with a focused name, neighborhood or organization and date range. Ask about relevant holdings, an archive appointment, remote copying and reuse permission. A museum visit and archive research may require different arrangements.
Adapt this example. Send only the personal information required through the repository’s own channel.
I am researching [name], reportedly [event] in [municipality, province/parish] around [years]. My source for that place is [citation]. Do you hold registers covering this event and period? If so, what reference, access conditions and copying charges apply?
Keep the evidence and the uncertainty
Keep a transcription beside the image, preserve uncertain letters, and separate a translated reading from a family relationship. Do not infer nationality or parentage from a surname alone. Use additional records to connect generations.
Save the custodian, collection, locality, date range, volume, page or image, URL and access date. Record an unsuccessful search with its actual coverage. Community recollections can supply leads; they do not replace the source behind a claim.
Suggest a correction, an overlooked collection or an updated access detail. An official link or source helps us check it before making a change. Please leave out private family documents and sensitive personal information.
